NorthStar privacy policy

NorthStar is a read-only personal-finance app. It cannot transfer funds, make payments, place trades, or change your financial accounts.

Information we process

• Email, display name, authentication, and consent records.
• Read-only accounts, balances, transactions, holdings, and analytics from a connected aggregation provider.
• Login, export, consent, device, and session events needed to secure and operate the service.

What we do not do

We do not receive or store bank login credentials. Provider access tokens are encrypted and never stored in plaintext. We do not sell personal or financial information or move money.

Use and optional AI

Information supports aggregation, budgeting, analytics, security, exports, and deletion. Optional AI requires separate consent and receives privacy-minimized financial context, not provider tokens or bank credentials.

Retention and security

Information is retained while an account is active. Data is encrypted in transit and provider tokens use AWS KMS envelope encryption. Service providers support authentication, hosting, aggregation, and consented AI processing. The current Android launch build is free and does not process purchase information.

Export and account deletion

Manage consent, export information, and request deletion in the app. If you cannot access it, use the account-deletion instructions linked below. After the stated grace period, personal and financial records are removed; a minimal user-detached security or legal record may remain only when necessary.
