Morning Prayer of St. Macarius the Great
The traditional English text, as prayed in the Prosfora daily prayer rule. It is part of the morning prayer rule in Prosfora (included from the 5-minute rule).
As I rise from sleep, I thank Thee, O Holy Trinity, that through Thy great goodness and long-suffering Thou wast not angered with me, an idler and a sinner, nor hast destroyed me in mine iniquities, but hast shown Thy customary love for mankind; and when I lay in despair, Thou didst raise me up to keep the morning watch and to glorify Thy might.
Do Thou now enlighten the eyes of my mind, and open my mouth to learn Thy words, and to understand Thy commandments, and to do Thy will, and to hymn Thee in heartfelt confession, and to praise Thine all-holy name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Prosfora assembles your morning and evening prayers in 5, 10 or 20 minutes and walks you through them one prayer at a time. Pray in your browser or install the Android app.
