For the Departed
The traditional English text, as prayed in the Prosfora daily prayer rule. It is in the “For Every Need” section of the Prosfora prayer book.
Give rest, O Lord, to the souls of Thy servants who have fallen asleep — (their names) — in a place of brightness, a place of verdure, a place of repose, whence all sickness, sorrow, and sighing have fled away. Every sin committed by them in word, deed, or thought, as a good God Who lovest mankind, do Thou forgive; for there is no man that liveth and sinneth not: Thou alone art without sin, Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Thy word is truth. Memory eternal!
Prosfora assembles your morning and evening prayers in 5, 10 or 20 minutes and walks you through them one prayer at a time. Pray in your browser or install the Android app.
